The traffic jam from hell -- there was an 18-wheeler on fire that closed I-10. The detour took us two hours to travel 3 miles. Here is a pic after we returned to I-10; you can see the line of traffic still waiting to traverse the accident.

We stayed overnight in Montgomery, the State Capital of AL. In a fluke of timing, this was the same day the US Supreme Court was ruling on the Ten Commandments monument that was on display in the State Judicial Building. There were news trucks lined up & down the street, and protesters from both sides everywhere.
