Mitch was named a National Merit Semi-Finalist in late 2003. In February 2004, he received a letter congratulating him on advancing to Finalist standing. Of the approximately three million high school graduating seniors in the US, only about 15,000 (less than 1/2 of one percent) are NM Finalists.
